Pastor Roger D. Carson, Jr.

Pastor Roger D. Carson, Jr. was born to Roger and Adrienne Carson on October 16, 1984 and raised by his grandmother, Esther Abrams in the city of Detroit, Michigan. Pastor Carson served at the Historic Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, before being called into the Pastoral Ministry.

At Mt. Zion, he served in many capacities, from the Ushering Ministry to Youth Pastor to Director of Family Ministries. During his years at Mt. Zion he was privileged to be mentored by one the greatest soul-stirring preachers of our time, the late Dr. Sterling L. Jones.

Pastor Carson is a product of the Detroit Public Schools System, attending Charles F. Kettering High School. He also attended Wayne State University, University of Phoenix, and Destiny School of Ministry. He has a Bachelors in Business Administration from Westgate University. He also received his Bachelors in Religious Education from Union Baptist Seminary of Birmingham, Alabama (Detroit Extension) in 2015 followed by a Masters in 2017. Pastor Carson was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in the 2020 as well. 

Pastor Carson is the former Pastor of the Historic Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Port Huron, Michigan, the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan, and Southern Missionary Baptist Church of Toledo, Ohio. During these assignments, Pastor Carson obtained the skills needed for the future ministry God had in store for him.

On Saturday, May 6, 2023, Pastor Carson was elected Senior Pastor of the Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church of St. Louis, Missouri. 

Pastor Carson has served as President of the Baptist Ministers Alliance of Toledo, Ohio and Vicinity and the Vice-President of the Baptist Pastors and Ministers Alliance of Toledo. 

Pastor Carson is married to the former Tyechia McClendon. Pastor Carson has two children; Matthew Raiden Carson (17), and Rachel Aoki-Marie Carson (14).

Pastor Carson’s theme scripture for his Pastoral Ministry is Ephesians 4:11-12, “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
